Yoko, a 5-year-old girl, on a walk with her father finds an abandoned Western-style building with a beautiful garden, into which an elderly woman is moving. Yoko is attracted to the noisy grandmother, although she is afraid. Eventually Yoko falls ill with diphtheria and spends her time in the hospital.
